Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites - Standard Edition is the edition of SharePoint Server needed for deploying and managing an extranet or public-facing Internet site. It includes all the features of SharePoint Server 2010 Standard Edition but only requires a server license. Client access licenses are not used, and internal users can only access the server if all content, information, and applications are also accessible to external users.

64-Bit Only: SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites - Standard Edition requires a 64-bit processor with at least four cores and the 64-bit version of Windows Server 2008.
SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites - Standard Edition includes the following capabilities:
- Content Management: Organizations can manage traditional content like documents, spreadsheets, and presentations; social content like blogs and wikis; web content; and digital assets on a single unified platform. Administrators can maintain site consistency through master pages and content management policies.
- Web Design Tools: Users can create web content with tools that use the Office Fluent user interface, the same interface used in the most recent versions of Office. Themes and templates that support the latest browsers and web and accessibility standards can be applied to sites.
- Search: The search infrastructure combines federated search, relevance, refinement, and social cues to speed up search and help people find the information they need.
- Web Application Support: Designers can create custom web applications with SharePoint Designer or Visual Studio and integrate them into a SharePoint site. SharePoint sites also support streaming video and Microsoft Silverlight controls.
Software Assurance: Under the Software Assurance program, you have the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of your coverage.
